Inspection and Requalification of Portable Gas Fired Heaters up to 400,000 btuh
COURSE OUTLINE
This training program is designed specifically for Canadian Rental Association – BC Region members who wish to qualify Service Technicians for the Inspection, Service and Requalification of Portable Gas Fired Heaters up to 400k btuh. Successful completion of this course will allow qualified service technicians and CRA-Member rental facility locations to apply for a Special Purpose Certificate of Qualification (SPCQ) from Technical Safety BC. This SPCQ will enable the inspection, service and requalification of specific makes and models of heaters used within the scope of the SPCQ within their operation.

Intended to be general in scope, Module 1 provides the learner with general knowledge on the inspection and maintenance of portable gas fired heaters including the properties and characteristics of propane. This course is intended to cover the broader aspects of technical knowledge and competency required for all portable gas fired heaters 400,000Btuh or less.

MODULE 2: MANUFACTURER HEATER ENDORSEMENTS (practical skill assessment)
Make and Model specific heater endorsement are separated into two categories based on heater types. Category 1 – covers DIRECT FIRED heaters and includes both ductable and non-ductable types. Category 2 covers INDIRECT FIRED heaters.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The majority of learning objectives will be similar in many of the heater models heaters, both direct and indirect fired, ductable and non-ductable. Where learning objectives are unique to a specific heater they will be identified separately on the appropriate skills assessment for the model of heater.
