IATSE Local 891 - Special Effects Technicians are the frontline experts ensuring safe, reliable construction, operation, and maintenance of movie production special effects. The motion picture and entertainment industry recognizes its responsibility to ensure gas-fired SPFX equipment meets regulatory standards and industry best practices for regulating its installation, maintenance, testing, and operational safety.
SPFX Propane Level 2 course is recognized by Technical Safety BC to provide IATSE 891 Special Effects Technicians with a Special Purpose Certificate of Qualification (SPCQ) to be used for the production of trade shows, exhibits, displays, festivals, conventions, stage, theatre, carnivals, travelling shows, movie, and television locations, and film or video productions or similar venues.
This training initiative is a collective effort of IATSE Local 891, the BC propane industry, Technical Safety BC and TeamWorks Solutions for the Temporary Installation, Maintenance, Operation and Testing of Regulated Gas Equipment limited to Small and Medium size Propane Gas Utilization Effects.
